Earthquake of August 14, 2021: We must support local organizations in Haiti

A powerful earthquake caused major damage in Haiti on August 14, 2021. Solidarité Québec-Haiti encourages its members and supporters to contribute to the recovery efforts of the most affected communities, in the departments of the South, Grande-Anse and des Nippes. It is essential to prioritize community agents and organizations being led by Haitians and having an active solidarity presence in the communities.

This resolution to prioritize local Haitian organizations is almost unanimous among analysts, due to the many fraud scandals linked to the disastrous international management of Haiti’s reconstruction funds by the IHRC led by Bill Clinton and Jean-Max Bellerive after the earthquake of January 2010.

The Haitian people remain extremely vulnerable, with foreign occupation of the territory through the Core Group constantly appointing puppet governments made up of members of the neo-Duvalierist regime called PHTK.

While SQH continues to demand that Canada withdraw from the neocolonial Core Group and let the Haitian people choose their leaders in peace, in all sovereignty, we encourage the people of Quebec and Canada to increase gestures of sincere solidarity with our brothers, and sisters in Haiti.

To facilitate your solidarity action, we offer here a non-exhaustive list of local Haitian organizations with which our members have had a positive experience recently.
